Mechanic - Landscaping Company

About the position

The Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the company’s equipment in its daily operation. The Mechanic reports to Account Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the company’s President with relevant planning, organizing, scheduling, purchasing, and budgeting
  • Put in place, effectively manage, and document maintenance program
  • Communicate daily with the President and/or Account Manager on the status of equipment readiness, repairs, and maintenance
  • Assure repairs and maintenance are completed within budget
  • Supervise any personnel assigned to assist in shop
  • Attend weekly meetings with company’s President and/or Account Manager, and other meetings as necessary
  • Participate in company training 
  • Manage preventative maintenance schedule 
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and parts used
  • Maintain parts and supply inventory
  • Train equipment operators on safe and proper procedures
  • Maintain shop in a constant state of readiness - neat and clean
  • 24-7 availability during snow and ice management operations
  • Assist with delivery of materials and supplies
  • Have a desire to learn and grow professionally and personally
  • Maintain a professional image and positive attitude when representing the company
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned to support the company

Requirements 

  • Exemplify the company’s core values: pride, discipline, efficient, flexible, and resourcefulness
  • Prioritize service and repairs to allow company to operate safely and efficiently
  • Demonstrate sufficient skill and ability to complete maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment operated by the company
  • Able to effectively use Arc & MiG welders and torches to complete relevant repairs and fabrication
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills 
  • Able to safely handle the physical and mental demands of the job, with sufficient strength and endurance to perform assigned work
  • Able to safely operate vehicles and equipment used by the company
  • Have own tools and toolbox
